Health and Wellness

Our overall health and wellness is one of the most foundational aspects to being productive and successful. If we are physically sick we can not perform as well. Many exist in an in between state long term where they are not fully sick but not ever fully well either, affecting their focus and ability to do things. Many are used to feeling like they are not quite right, but not knowing what to do about it, so they focus on ignoring it and try to push past it instead of working toward fixing and improving it..

Preventative health is the most important aspect of living that people tend to ignore.

When something is not quite right over time, people try to ignore it. When they can not ignore it anymore they might go to a doctor for help. Doctors are trained to help alleviate symptoms more than help people live and be healthy. Effectively most doctors have become drug pushers for prescription drugs. So people end up on endless drugs with endless additional side effects that make them overall even less ok, and less healthy. Between the prescription drugs and the chemicals added to our food, they are killing us slowly and our bodies and minds are trying to tell us.

If you are living a healthy lifestyle you should not need to go to a doctor unless you break an arm, get injured or otherwise are very unwell. When you do go to the doctor you need to ask what can you do other than take more drugs to cover up symptoms, because that is the easy fix they focus on due to it being pushed on them. Drugs are the easy solution that do not solve much, and that is what makes the pharmaceutical industry profits.

Preventing illness makes no one money so doctors are not taught that so much in their conventions/ ongoing education that is sponsored by the drug companies. Most people want what seems like the easy fix, and this is what doctors tend to assume you are looking for. Unless more drugs are really what is needed, and they rarely are, you usually have to ask for something better: that usually means having to do something more yourself. Another consideration is that doctors are not really trained well in how to stay healthy: they are trained in what drugs to prescribe that may or may not work, but will definitely bring more issues.

Holistic approach needed- mind, body and spirit

If you are physically sick, it will prevent your focus. If your mind has negative thoughts, it will distract you from being positive and productive and prevent you from reaching toward goals. If your spirit is not grounded, say you lack purpose, you will also lack motivation and determination. You need all three in balance to be all that you are meant and capable of being. All three of these need to be well for you to be well.

Nutrition

Food is supposed to be medicine that helps nourish you and sustains life. We are meant to be healthy and vibrant, not half sick all of the time like most people are. For this we need to eat real food that the good Lord gave us and meant for us to consume. Even the fresh produce sold in the store tends to come with toxic chemicals like pesticides and herbicides designed to kill things and keep the food shelf stable.

Being a vegetarian can be good, but comes with considerations. Plants need to be diversified as each one contains some, but not all nutrients and usually not all essential amino acids. When you eat animals you get a complete source of protein as you are eating the already assembled proteins, and most things needed to produce something similar to what you are eating in your own body. A few plant sources contain all essential amino acids, i.e. moringa and hemp seeds are a complete amino acid source. Most plant based foods, however, are not complete sources of all required essential amino acids needed by the body to be used and to produce protein. To make up for this, they need to be balanced with other plant sources to become complete and usable. One common example, such as beans and peanuts, need to be complemented with whole grains like rice, oatmeal, or whole wheat to become complete sources. You also need to ensure you are consuming all vitamins and minerals. Iron is one mineral that is often deficient in plant based diets.

Having mentioned this limiting factor, natural sources of vitamins and minerals do tend to be more usable by our bodies, and much better for us then the synthetic sources. Natural God created foods are frequently more bioavailable meaning your body can actually use them better. One way this occurs is by other components being present with the vitamins that make them easier for the body to use. Some synthetic vitamins have even been found to be toxic.

Factory made food from the store is not life sustaining

Most of the food sold in the store does not sustain life: it sustains shelf life. This means it was designed to be dead, and to kill anything that tries to live off of it. Chemicals are added to the food not because they are good for you, but because it makes the food dead enough to last longer on the shelf. Can anything designed to be dead, that is designed to kill anything that might try to live off of it, help you sustain life and be healthy? No, this dead food designed to kill anything that tries to live off of it is killing us slowly. This is much of why people tend to never feel quite right.

Fresh is truly best

Much of the natural food we are designed to live off of and actually thrive from starts losing nutrition as soon as it is picked, and even more when processed into the unnatural foods that make up most of what the stores sell. Even otherwise natural grains, when processed into flour, quickly lose much of the nutrition the wheat berries once had. The factory made food most people eat everyday is vastly further processed then this and has all kinds of chemicals added to it so it stays dead as long as possible.

Grow your own!

Going organic is better than pesticide filled produce, but the best way is to produce as much of your own natural and healthy food as possible. This way you know what is in it, what is not in it, and what it really is.

It might be difficult for you to grow all of your own food, but take a step in the right direction and start producing at least some of your own food. Why not start with a small container garden during the spring and summer months when you can grow outside?

We do outside container gardening every year, but also have shelves along the windows with supplemental lighting over them to produce fresh to the table produce all year round. Every day it takes a few minutes to care for them, but every meal we have something freshly picked to add to our plates.

Light to help us be alive and awake

Bright white lighting with around 6500 kelvin color temp, more toward the blue spectrum, that helps plants vegetate and grow, also stimulates us to be awake and alive during the day. This is especially true and needed even more during the winter when the sunlight becomes more dim, and more toward the red-orange spectrum. To wake up and feel alive we need this bright, blue end of the spectrum lighting as soon as we can get it early in the day after first waking up.

Different lighting helps us relax for the night

Toward night I start turning the lights down to dimmer lighting, to cue everyone in that it is time to start relaxing for the night. The lighting needs to be dimmer toward night, but also lower on the kelvin color temp scale, say closer to 2000 kelvin which has more of the red/ orange spectrum.

We need light to cue our body on what to do

When we don't have good light during the day, we never really fully wake up leading to low energy, depression, and lack of focus. When we stare at a phone screen at night or do not otherwise tone the light down, it keeps us half awake and prevents us from being able to sleep. Even our skin cells literally have light receptors that receive and respond to different types of light, not just in our eyes. This process is utilized in light therapy techniques, such as red light therapy that is proven to help us heal, increases our serotonin levels, helps relieve pain, can literally help cure cancer, and has so many other health benefitting aspects. Keep in mind that cancer itself is not natural: it is a sign of being out of balance when our body starts forming sickness such as cancer that is normally naturally eliminated and does not survive in the healthy body.

We need plants

In so many ways we were designed to live with plants and when we do not have them, we feel the effects. We breathe out carbon dioxide that they absorb, and they release the oxygen we need. Indoor air tends to be more polluted with nothing to clean it: plants also clean the air, and they do this especially well when inside, where you are most of your day. They produce the food that nourishes us, that we are designed to eat and be nourished by. The fresher the better- imagine being able to cut a fresh parsley sprig and add it to your potatoes just before you eat them. That is what the good Lord intended for us, and that is what provides the nutrients we were designed to have and need.

People need nature

People are designed to live with, and we need nature: when we become disconnected such as during the winter we feel depressed. Our bodies are telling us we are missing something we need.

People are designed to interact with nature and receive natural cues that tell our body what to do. When we become disconnected from these natural cues we were designed to receive, such as from living and being inside, we have issues and need to do what we can to bring our natural cues back. Our bodies need to know what time it is, and what it needs to prepare to do.

Healthy thoughts

People tend to be more negative or positive. Each positive or negative thought has an accumulative effect. They either build us up, give us energy, focus, enthusiasm, motivation, etc… or tear us down. Maintaining a healthy mental state comes down to our habits of thought throughout the day. Our accumulation of thoughts lead to us being hopeful, or hopeless; positive with a can-do attitude, or negative and ready to give up before starting. We can be motivated to face the next challenge we can convert into an opportunity, or stuck dealing with issues that seem impossible. Whether you think you can or can not, you are right.

Our spirit

Not everyone is a fan of believing in God or going to church- many do not see it as an important part of everyday life. You should really consider what the Bible has to say. Did you know that Seventh Day Adventists that follow the Bible more closely than many other denominations are actually known to live longer, healthier lives and tend to remain more productive even into old age? God gave us instructions on how to live within the Bible he inspired, and these instructions have much wisdom due to being written by the one that designed us. Keep in mind not all churches are equal: many pastors and denominations reinterpret the Bible and claim it says things it does not say, effectively trying to make their own religion that follows the ways of the world instead of what God instructed us.

Did you know that the Bible says the Sabbath is on the 7th day to mimic the creation? That is when we are supposed to go to church per Gods instruction. It was a catholic pope that declared people should go to church on Sunday instead of Saturday, to prove he had more authority than the Bible. So this is people saying to go to church on Sun, contrary to the ten commandments. Some claim that because of Jesus we go on Sun, but even Jesus followed the 10 commandments and had Sabbath on Saturday. This may seem insignificant but yet it is a strong indicator of whether a church follows the ways of the world, or of the Bible and Gods instruction that they claim to follow.

I have critically analyzed the Bible since I was a child and came to the conclusion that if everyone followed the Bible, everyone would get along, everything would just work, we would suffer a lot less; we would be less distracted by things that do not really matter, and we would be more able to focus on the things in life that do matter.
